CHAPTER-1 THE PROCESS OF LEAVING FROM THE CURRENT WORKPLACE: You have received a job offer. Both you and your new company need to be well prepared for the process of leaving the current place and starting a new workplace
CHAPTER-1 THE PROCESS OF
LEAVING FROM THE CURRENT WORKPLACE
We want to address the
question of what employees can do to make their entry into a new workplace as
successful as possible. A good and successful onboarding process is not solely
the responsibility of the hiring company, but an employee must do their part to
prepare for entry into the new work environment as well as possible.
When you receive a job offer
from a company, what you should do in your current company:
If you have questions about
the offer, for example, wages and fringe benefits or articles containing
prohibition of competition or special circumstances in the employment contract,
possible starting date if you accept the offer, etc., you should discuss them
with the company that made the offer.
When informing the company
that you have accepted a job offer, it would be more accurate to say that you
will inform the bidder company after you have clarified the possible start date
and the date of leaving your company.
When you accept the job offer,
you can present your resignation letter by meeting with your manager in your
current company. In doing so, according to Article 17 of the Labor Law, you
must submit a notice varying between 2-8 weeks, depending on your seniority. In
this case, you will be allowed to seek a job for 2 hours a day. You must also
state in your petition that you want to use the job search leave by calculating
the total job search leave at the end of the contract, by calculating 2 hours a
day for each working day that coincides with the notice notice.
For example, if you have an
8-week notice period, if the number of working days before the notice is 40
working days, your job search leave will be: 40x2=80 hours. When you divide
this into your 1-day working day, you have the opportunity to leave as early as
the day.
In this case, you will be able
to quit your job earlier than the job search permit.
Or, you can arrange your
resignation reason accordingly, by getting a letter from SGK or by adding the
relevant document to your petition in cases where legally entitlement to
severance pay is required. In this case, you do not have to give notice, but
you must work in the company for as long as you can transfer business due to
business ethics.
Your bidding company will not
cause you any problems in waiting until your notice. You need to manage the
process of leaving the current company without breaking the door and closing
the doors. It is always important to leave your current company in good
relations, both for business ethics and for reference in the future. Even if
the bidding firm forces you, entering into situations that will disrupt your
relations with the current firm poses a risk for your future.
After giving notice to your
current employer, you can inform the bidder of your date of employment with the
firm. Before starting the new job, it is recommended that you prepare the
employment documents requested by the company completely and deliver them on
the desired day.
If possible, use a few days
off when you leave work to mentally distance yourself from your old employer
and old job while also mentally preparing yourself for the new challenge.
It is very important to let go
of the old post. You come to a new company, take on a new role, and it may even
be accompanied by an increase in responsibility. Don't make the mistake of
assuming that yesterday's answers will answer tomorrow's questions.
Every company has its own
characteristics, every task has its own challenges... You'd better not make the
mistake of thinking that everything will go on as before.
Therefore, consider the new
employer. Analyze the environment in which you will work in the future. What
problems and obstacles may you encounter and how do you intend to overcome
them?
If you're well prepared and
your future company takes the recruiting process seriously, nothing can stand
in the way of fast and seamless onboarding.
We wish you a pleasant day
